Fishing Distance Casting Lead Weights

In this article, we will discuss the common types, shapes and weights of Fishing Distance Casting Lead Weights in a variety of fishing styles.

The fishing weights used for a variety of fishing styles are made of cast lead and are characterized by shape and weight that allow for: distance throwing, the rapid sinking of the hook and bait, resistance against the current and use around rocky or sandy areas.

Below is an overview of the common forms of ores and the fishing styles to which they are suitable:

This lead is the first of the weights that began the tradition of fishing in Israel. Its shape is fairly basic, with no special features and therefore suitable for early fishermen who use a roller rod. Comes in weights ranging from 20 to 100 grams. Suitable for fishing in coastal styles (Surf from the beach), fishing in wave breakers and fishing and delivery lures (bolus).

The shape of the Golah (circle):

This lead has properties of high resistance to current and works against sea waves (50 cm to 1 m).

Its rounded shape allows it to burrow and create a hole in the sand and therefore suitable for use in sandy areas. In addition, when drawing the fishing line (roll roll) it tends to remain close to the ground, which can create a problem in rocky areas (gets stuck between the rocks). Comes in weights ranging from 50 to 100 grams. Suitable for fishing in coastal styles (Surf from the beach), angler fishing and fishing lures (bolus).

Flat drop shape:

This lead has properties that allow it to hover over a rocky area and the ability to assemble very quickly. When we collect the fishing wire, the flat structure of the lead allows it to rise towards the surface of the water, preventing the lead from being caught in obstacles. In addition, the lead allows for an especially rapid collection of its flat and hydrodynamic structure that creates little resistance. It is important to note that this form has no resistance to currents and is recommended to be used when the sea is not very high – waves between 20 and 60 cm, with weights ranging from 80 to 130 g or 3-5 cm. Suitable for fishing in coastal styles And fishing in breakwaters.

Flat plate shape:

This lead is characterized by characteristics that allow it to hover over a rocky area and the ability to assemble very quickly. When collecting the fishing line, the flat structure of the lead allows it to rise towards the surface of the water – which prevents the lead from being caught in the scum. Its flat and hydrodynamic structure creates a small resistance, allowing for extremely fast collection. The advantage of this shape versus the flat drop form is the resistance to light currents. Comes in common weights ranging from 60 to 110 grams and suitable for fishing in coastal styles (Surf from the coast) and fishing in breakwaters.

Anchor form (lead-alluvium):

This lead has high resistance to very strong currents and also high sea to surging. Lead is connected to thin stainless steel rods combined with beads that allow it to fix itself in the sand. It has an element that allows the poles to be pulled in the pull or while collecting the thread, making it an ordinary lead without resistance. It belongs to the family of ores and is suitable for built-in hooks with a hanging hook. It is important to note that alluvial lead that does not come with folding rods can cause damage and increased wear in the roller when collecting the wire. Comes in weights ranging from 90 to 130 grams and suitable for use in coastal fishing (Surf from the coast).

Olive shape:

This lead is specially designed for deep fishing when the two leads are cone-shaped, enabling rapid lowering and lifting with minimal water resistance. Comes in weights ranging from 30 to 80 grams.

Suitable for fishing in coastal styles (Surf from the beach), fishing in breakwater and fishing and delivery lures (bolus)

Butterfly shape (circle with a click):

This lead is particularly common in the use of a boss grinder. Can be used as single lead or several ores, relative to the buoyancy weight listed on the buoy. The shape of the butterfly enables reuse by opening the leads and re-placing them on the string. Comes in sizes: BB, 3, 0, 2, 3, 4, 5

Suitable for use in bass fishing and suitable for use as an added weight to images at very light weights.

Cast Lead:

This lead is made by a swivel or a ring-shaped bent rod that enables fast connection of the lead to the fishing rig (RIG). This advantage enables the transfer of different types of hanging ores in a variety of shapes and weights, in accordance with the designated dyes, whether it is a rocky or sandy area or according to the sea level. Comes in weights ranging from 110 to 150 grams and suitable for fishing in coastal styles (Surf from the coast), fishing in breakwater and fishing lures and delivery (bolus).
