If you want to have any success while down in the water when you’re spearfishing or freediving, you need to have a mask and snorkel. Without freediving and spearfishing masks and snorkels, you wouldn’t be able to see or breathe very easily.
Finding the perfect mask for spearfishing and freediving all comes down to visibility and fit. You want to choose a mask that will fit tight enough, so it forms a waterproof seal around your face, but you also don’t want it to be so tight that you are uncomfortable also.
Choosing your snorkel for freediving and spearfishing follows a similar principle. You should be able to breathe easily through it without having to practically stick your head out of the water to get a breath of air. Also, make sure that the snorkel fits well with your mask, and you should be able to free dive or spearfish comfortably.
